February Ipsy Bag Review

Happy Friday everyone! No themed “friday” post today…i’m feeling SO uninspired. :( I blame it on the massive amounts of snow we have been getting, and the fact that my bank account was hacked last night and all my money was taken…(my bank is fixing it, but its still a hassle to get a new card and having to change all of my recurring online bill payments!) So I will just be reviewing my recent Ipsy bag!

ipsy bag

Look at all the goodies, this months bag is better than some recent ones!! Of course, every month you always get the cute bag, this months is a plain pink color, but they are always well made and durable.

Here is what I do with my old ipsy bags: (incase you didn’t see it on my FB page.)

So, lets get to the contents…

tini beauty Collage

Tini Beauty Eyetini Eye Cordial Shadow + Base in Ambrosia. (Full Size $18) This is a cream shadow, it really stays put once you let it dry. (Which happens fast so do any blending quickly.) I’m not a big fan of the color, it looks nice on my hand but used as a lid color it makes me look like I have 2 black eyes! Maybe it would be more flattering on warmer skin tones? Use code IPSYLOVE to receive 50% off any purchase and a FREE Nail Color at tinibeauty.com. Valid through 4/10

pop beauty Collage

Pop Beauty Plump Pout in Peony Petal. Sample size 4g approx. value $7.50. (Full Size 8.5g $16) The color is like a warm pink rose shade. Being a lip product junkie, I was excited to try this. The color is very opaque, so 1 dip into the color is sufficient, it also applies really nice and is not at all sticky. It wore for about 2-3 hours on me, but at the end I noticed it started drying and flaking where my lips meet and looked very unattractive. Almost like “buildup” that I had to wipe off, thats my only complaint with this product. Use code POPPINGPOUT to receive 25% off any purchase at popbeauty.com  Valid thorough 3/15

ipkn NY Collage

IPKN New York Moist & Firm BB Cream in Light 02. Sample size .05 oz approx. value $1.30. (Full Size 1.3 oz $35) First, I must note the colors shown on the website DO NOT even remotely match what I got. The swatch I did looks closer to medium 04 then what it’s actually supposed to be (light 02.) Needless to say I didn’t actually use this on my face because I would have just looked like an oompa loompa…The coverage seems medium and it does feel somewhat “moist.” I’m just disappointed I didn’t get to use it. Usually the samples of foundation they send are pretty spot on. No discount code available for this one.

city color Collage

Next I received City Color Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon. (Full Size $2.99.)  Its a matte warm toned pink with decent pigmentation and blend-ability. Once blended it looked more coral toned on my skin. I have to say it doesn’t last all day and I noticed it faded a bit after my 4 hr shift at work. But for $2.99, what can you expect. Use code 14IPSY20 to receive 20% off your entire purchase at citycolorbeauty.com Valid until 3/15

Lastly, I received Zoya polish in Dot. (Full Size $9) Dot is from their Spring 2014 Awaken collection and is described as a full coverage petal pink. I didn’t open and swatch this because I am receiving a similar color in my Glossybox that i’d rather try, so I’ll probably be saving it for a giveaway. :) Use code IPSYZP4 to receive 1 FREE polish and a FREE Zoya Remove when you purchase 2 Zoya polishes at zoya.com. Valid until 3/15

Total value this month is $38.80 and because it’s only $10 a month, you always get your moneys worth with ipsy! So although I personally didn’t care for some of the shades in this months bag, I was overall happy with the selection and value.

What did you get on your bag this month? Were you happy with it?

If you aren’t signed up for ipsy yet, please use MY LINK to get on the wait list! (FYI If you share on FB that you signed up, they usually let you bypass being on the waiting list :) )

  1. Sorry to hear you’re feeling uninspired; sad face :( BUT it looks like you did well this month with Ipsy; minus the Oompa Loompa BB Cream, that stuff is DARK for a “light” shade. But then again, it looks like you are like me. Glow-in-the-dark white ;) HOW did you take that amazing picture with all of your goodies together (the first one). I love the little sparkle that you have through the photo that looks like little hearts; so cute!

    • I was surprised how dark it was…maybe i’ll save it for summer when im not so “walking dead” pale lol And the picture I use picmonkey.com and edit it to add bokeh shapes and “soft” lighting :) Thanks!

  2. It does sound like a great bargain even if it wasn’t all that great! That lip colour is lovely! I’m in the UK and haven’t heard of Ipsy bags before but I think I’ll see if they do something similar over here :-) xxx

  3. Bummer about your bank! I lost my card a couple years ago and had re-arrange some of my payments and it was a mess! I love the look of the lip gloss & nail polish, they like perfect spring colors!

  4. I don’t get any subscription boxes, but I have been wanting to try Zoya for a while! Maybe I will take advantage of the current promotion and select a few! Any favorites that I have to try?

    • I really love Happi, Payton and Zuza. But to be honest the ipsy deal isn’t that great, I would follow them on FB & Twitter because they often release promo codes (better then this one) Like a few months ago they had a promo for get 3 polishes free, just pay $12 shipping (so with that one I saved about $20 b/c their polishes are $9-10 and shipping is $6) :)

  5. Great Review! Sorry that BB cream was too dark for you! I really liked this month’s bag and have been loving the blush more than I thought I would! PS I just looked at the Tini Beauty website and I never realized their products were so expensive, I assumed they were a cheaper brand but they charge $13 for a nail polish and $18 for these cream eye shadows we got this month! Holy cow!

    • The blush is great for the price, and yah Tini Beauty is more expensive then I thought too. I have a nail polish from a previous bag and it is pretty great though! :)

  6. I find myself ooohing over the Eyetini color. I love the sheen on it! I would have totally bought something just like this, until you mentioned how it looked like a bruise. I wouldn’t have thought of that, and I can totally see that effect happening. I am so sorry about your bank card information. That is upperlevel mass suckage.

    • LOL yes, MAJOR suckage! haha I was bummed when I applied to to my eye because it was so pretty on my hand. Maybe ill try again with a thin line or something…

    • Oh wow! This is the first time it’s happened, hope it doesn’t happen again! Too bad about the blush, but I don’t think you’re missing out on all that much :)

And thanks for the nomination, i’m not sure if I can get to it, i was nominated for like 5 of these things this week LOL but I still love all you gals!

  7. Ugh, that sucks about your bank account! I’m sorry.
Just a thought on the Ambrosia eye shadow stuff – try shading with a darker color, like grey or even a soft black in the outer V of your eyes. It might help to make it more flattering with your skin tone and make it look less like someone punched you! :) Oh, and the lip gloss color is gorgeous!

    • Yah it sucks :( I’ll have to try your ideas with the shadow…I really didn’t experiment with it too much so hopefully I can make it work, thanks! :)

    • lol, i did’t notice anything. But I just went to go take a whiff and mine only has a faint scent, but nothing that would deter me from using it. :( Maybe you got a bad batch because I have heard of a few people complaining. Or maybe i’m not that sensitive to smells :)
