Hi everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend! Can you guess what today is (besides National beer day and national coffee cake day?)…thats right, IT’S MY BIRTHDAY! And today I turn
30 25…just kidding I really am turning 30 no matter how hard I fight it LOL. So in “honor” of this glorious month (which is also my oldest’s birthday month) i’m doing a review of the awesome Urban Decay Shattered Face Case! I got this 2 months ago when they were half price at Ulta, but I waited to save it for this “special month.” (PS I guess they sold out of this palette because I can’t find it on Ulta or UD.com) But, lucky for you i’m also giving one away!
The case has a cool shattered design on the front and like the Anarchy Face Case, it has 2 levels.
The covers can be positioned at any angle which I LOVE. It comes with 5 shadows (Shakedown, Remix, Nameless, Minor Sin and Bleach), a full size Super Saturated Lip Crayon in Lovechild, a travel size 24/7 Glide on Eyeliner in Zero, 2 (generously sized) blushes in Overexposed and Temper and a highlighter in Glint. There is also 2 large mirrors on EACH level…which is a nice touch.
Shakedown is a silvery brown satin. It’s very pigmented and applied very smoothly with minimal fallout.
Remix is a beautiful frosted purple shimmer. It is also nice texture and has some fallout.
Nameless is a warm medium brown satin with a greenish shimmer. This was smooth and pigmented with minimal fallout..I love this one!
Minor Sin is a soft shimmery pink. The pigmentation was ok and it had minimal fallout.
Bleach is a light ivory matte. This was just blah to me, it had a moderate amount of fallout and didn’t show up well in my skin.
Lovechild is a medium neutral pink. Very creamy and pigmented, FYI you need a sharpener for this because it doesn’t twist up.
Zero is Urban Decay’s Award winning jet black liner. (I gave it to a friend before I could swatch it…whoops!)
Overall I think these eyeshadows were slightly nicer and had lot less fallout than the ones from the Anarchy Face Case! I also previously bought the exact same lip pencil that came with this set (so now I have 2!) and I have already reviewed it in full HERE, if you want to check it out. The shadows wore about 8 hrs over primer with no creasing…i’m sure they would have lasted longer but I had to go to bed.
Overexposed is a warm “dusty pink” matte.
Temper is a cool medium pink with the SLIGHTEST hint of sheen. (It’s on the powdery side)
Glint is a shimmering warm champagne highlighter. You only need the TINIEST bit…a little goes a long way, but it’s beautiful!
Overall, I really like both of these blushes and it’s nice that they are matte (some folks don’t like shimmery blushes) so you can add shimmer with the highlighter if thats your preference. The highlighter is so beautiful for under the brow bone as well! Side note: Apparently UD doesn’t sell single blushes anymore…this is news to me, I had no idea they stopped selling them! :/
Here are some looks I created using this palette:
