I feel like I haven’t taken a Maven box in FOREVER! (My last one was in October to be exact…wow!) I am very glad that i’m “grandfathered in” since they changed their rules on skipping boxes! To be honest none of them had really appealed to me and I am on a budget so I wanted to wait for some unique/special polishes. This April box was the one i’ve been waiting for!
This month Julep debuted their new blushes and bronzers to be included in the boxes (they were so popular that they are currently sold out!) I got the Bombshell box which included Kayla, Tatum and your choose of blush (I’m so glad they let you choose now!) I also added on Felicia. They also included a nice card with a 2 for 1 code (PERK2FOR1) so I picked up more of my favorite Julep Sea Salt Spray and got Tania for FREE!) 😀 Lets get to the swatches…
Tatum is a neon chartreuse metallic (which is like a green/yellow) It is really pretty and covers well in 2 coats with minimal brush lines which you often get with metallics. I had no trouble with staining (I used a base coat) and it removed easily and lasted 3 days before any major chipping occurred. (New polishes retail for $14 or $11.20 Maven pricing.)
I had posted a photo on instagram stating that in the bottle it looked really similar to Mackenzie (which is disco’d), so I did a swatch comparison:
So, as you can see they are very similar in shade, but the finish is different. Mackenzie is a creme with subtle shimmer and Tatum is a metallic/ chrome finish. Both very pretty though 🙂
OMG the gorgeousness of Kayla is undeniable! Kayla is described as an “electric iris sheer with violet sheen” I used 3 coats and it was pretty opaque for me. It has a beautiful pink shift in the sunlight…SO GORGEOUS…probably one of my favorite purples ever. Be careful driving if you have this on your nails you may distract yourself! 😉 I also am wearing a topcoat to bring out more of the shimmer.
Felicia was my add-on and it is described as a “black speckled mint creme.” I love this one because it gives a really interesting finish without any intensive nail art skills. It has a nice thin formula and covers perfectly in 2 coats. Lasted 3 days before any chipping (which is standard for me, I’m always doing housework lol.) This was a little messier to remove, it left the black speckles behind. So I suggest using 100% Acetone remover to cut down on the time/mess.
Peach Bellini Blush:
I chose the Peach Bellini blush because I already have so many pink blushes! It is a nice warm peachy-pink with very subtle shimmer. The case feels nicely made and has some weight to it. The cover has a nice sized mirror and snap closure. Their blushes and bronzers are supposed to “diffuse the appearance of pores and imperfections,” but I didn’t really notice anything because i’m just putting it on a small area of my cheeks. (Maybe more so with the bronzers?) The formula is nicely pigmented but slightly powdery, so be sure to tap your brush off before applying. (Retails for $24 or $19.20 maven pricing)
Overall, I am SUPER happy with everything in my box, Formulas and colors were awesome and it has pefect the products to get you all ready for spring!
