Gooood Morning everyone! Today i’ll be reviewing the Lorac Mint Edition Palette that I got from Hautelook a while back. Hautelook is awesome because you can get great deals on awesome brands, but it KIND of stinks in a way because I think a lot of the items featured on there (like this one) are being discontinued and thats why they are so cheap. BUT if you don’t care about that like I don’t, then you will probably love Hautelook 🙂
So, they actually have 2 versions of this palette the “large” one (which I have) comes with 8 shadows, a blush, highlighter and gloss…and the “smaller” one (which is currently available on ebay) comes with 6 shadows, blush, gloss and clutch. I just wanted to point that out so no one gets confused!
First of all how adorably retro is this palette??! It looks like a little clutch and its made of a grained (pleather?) its very well made and has a magnetic closure. The only unfortunate part is that the cover can’t be positioned at any angle, so it has to be opened all the way and laying flat or it will close. The mirror inside is large and of good quality. It also comes with a LE Couture Shine gloss in “Retro” (a nude pink) and I love it!
Inside is 4 matte shadows, 4 shimmer shadows a blush and highlighter. The shadows are decently pigmented (besides the top left which didn’t really show up on me.) The matte ones especially are on the powdery side and have quite a bit of fallout. The shimmers are only slightly better so be sure to tap your brushes well before applying. The blush is a beautiful pink/coral and the highlighter is a cool toned pink. The highlighter is VERY pigmented and shimmery so you only need the smallest amount, it’s easy to over do it!
These shadows don’t have names so I tried to swatch them according to their placement in the palette. This palette is neutrals and a pretty mint shade which is pretty trendy right now. I actually really like the look of mint shadow on me! 🙂
Here are some “looks” I did from the palette:
Here, I used the taupe shimmer shadow on the inner to middle of my lid, then used the brown shimmer shadow on the middle to outer corner and crease. I am also wearing the Couture gloss in Retro and the blush/ highlighter. The gloss is strongly scented and smells like sweet vanilla, which I personally like but some may find it too strong or overpowering. It’s thick and slightly on the sticky side.
For this look I used the mint on the inner to middle part of my lid, the white shimmer on the middle of my lid and under my brow bone and the taupe matte on the outer corner of my lid.
I am overall happy with this purchase and I have already gotten a lot of use out of this palette! It’s a great springtime palette and perfect for those who like softer eye and cheek looks.
How do you guys feel about Hautelook? Have you shopped there before?
Hope you all have a great day! Thanks so much for reading! xoxo, Kristina
