Hey babes…(maybe some bene babes perhaps?) I’ve got a review of some lovely makeup items from Benefit Cosmetics that I had won in a Birchbox/Benefit Twitter contest a few months ago. I was SO excited to try all of these products and all (except the They’re real Mascara) were new to me!
(All of the goodies!) I’m going to be reviewing each product and doing a make-up look for a full “Face O’Benefit!”
First up…the base
Big Easy a Multi-Balancing Complexion Perfector:
From the Benefit Website: “BIGGER than BB! Why? Two reasons. First, big easy balances moisture & controls oil. Second, the cushiony liquid-to- powder formula melts in like a cream, yet finishes lightweight & velvety like a powder. This multi-balancing complexion perfector gives light-to-medium natural coverage to even out skintone and conceal imperfections. Even better, it contains ingredients known to soothe & comfort the skin and help fight free radicals. One & done…big easy saves the day! Non-comedogenic. Oil-free.”
The shade Medium would defiantly be too dark for my winter skin, but since its summer and I have a bit of color it matches well. I have been using a beauty blender to apply it, because using a brush was highlighting my dry spots. This is a lightweight cream to powder formula so if you have dry skin, I might steer clear of this because it seems to be somewhat drying and highlights any dry patches I have. My skin is mostly oily/combination so it works pretty well for me.
It gives decent medium coverage, but I still needed to use a concealer to hide blemishes. I didn’t use a primer and by 6 hrs it was starting to get patchy looking in oil prone areas like my nose and chin.
Verdict: I really like this lightweight formula for summer, I just wish it had more staying power.
Gimme Brow brow-volumizing fiber gel:
From the Benefit Website: “Bring on the brows! This innovative brush-on fiber gel adheres to skin & hair…creating brows where before there were none. It builds easily for thick, lush arches, thanks to a tapered brush for blending & precision tip for shaping. Available in two shades.”
I am not a brow girl…my brow game “seriously be slackin” due to over plucking in my 90’s high school days when “thin as shit” brows were in… So, I tend to leave my brows be and don’t pay much attention to them, I just think they look ridiculous completely filled in. I am so happy I got the chance to try this because it is hassle free and natural looking. PLUS, the gel formula keeps brows set and in place, which is my biggest concern.
Verdict: LOVE this natural looking gel filler for my thin and unmaintained brows 😀
They’re Real Mascara:
From the Benefit Website: “They’re real! lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts & separates. Our jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had!”
I have already reviewed this mascara here and I have so many in rotation right now that I didn’t open this one. (I just used my old one for the photos.) It does give you super long black lashes but the only down side is that I often poke my eye with the applicator (operator error?) and its somewhat difficult to remove.
Verdict: Good for wimpy/sparse lashes or for those who love a super voluminous lash look!
Finally, cheeks & lips
Lollitint candy-orchid tinted lip & cheek stain:
From the Benefit Website: “Hello lolli! Our candy-orchid tint treats lips & cheeks to a “pop” of dreamy sweetness. It’s the flirtiest flush you can get from a bottle…and its smudge-proof, smooch-proof color lasts from A.M. to P.M. Talk about stain power! How to Apply: Brush three strokes on the apple of your cheek and blend quickly with fingertips. Repeat on other side. Dab on lips & blend. For extra delicious color, repeat!”
I was most excited to try this product, the color just looks so gorgeous for summer! It says that its a lip and cheek stain, but I think it works much better on cheeks than it does on lips…For me on my lips, it just highlights too many of the dry areas and the color really sinks into them, but not so much onto the rest of the lips, so it just ends up looking mostly patchy…also its slightly drying on the lips. I love the color, just not the formula (for a lip product.)
On the cheeks however, its a great blush stain! You just have to remember to work fast because it sets very quickly, I just do one cheek at a time. I use a compact blush brush to blend it!
Verdict: Great for cheeks, not so much for lips (in my opinion!) However, Benefit DOES make an Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in the same shade that I’m eager to check out!
Finished “Face O’Benefit!”
Overall, I really like these products and most of them are great for the warm summer months when you want your face to “stay put.” 😉
Have you used the Benefit Cosmetics brand? If so, do you have any favorites from them?
Hope you enjoyed and have a TIP-TOP THURSDAY! xoxo, Kristina
