So, I decided to try a new subscription box this month and I have to say I am very glad I did! I had heard of Sample Society from around the web but I had never really looked too much into it.
About the box:
Sample Society by BeautyBar.com is a monthly subscription box costing $15 a month. In your box you will get 5 deluxe sized beauty items hand picked by Allure beauty editors that includes a mix of skin, hair, and makeup products as well as fragrances. You also get an Allure mini-mag that gives in-depth reviews and tips on how to use all the products included in the box. I LOVE the mini-mag…its one of the best parts of the box, besides the awesome products. They also just “revamped” their subscription by giving members $10 off $50 orders every month on BeautyBar.com orders. (The coupon is good for that month only.) There is no survey or profile to fill out so unfortunately everyone gets the same thing. They do a few sneak peeks on their BeautyBar.com Facebook page so be sure to like them to get their updates!

Jane Iredale Longest Lash Mascara:
OK, I have so many mascara samples but whatever, its nice to try them and see if I like them before buying a full size. The mascara wand is super dense and soft which makes it a little bit tough to really “get into” the lashes. You have to do a few passes to really get them coated. However it really lengthens and gives a nice fluttery look to lashes. The downside is the mascara is somewhat dry and all those passes make it flake off the wand onto your face. So I would suggest applying this first. Although, once its on it stays put.
Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Peony:
I was really excited to try another Melted Lipstick because I like my Candy one so much. The color is Peony- a light dusty rose/pink. The formula is the same as Candy, somewhat dry/matte feeling. However, this lighter shade is much less forgiving of lip imperfections so be sure to exfoliate and moisturize lips a little bit prior to applying. This color lasted about 4 hours on me. It was nice to try another shade, but I’ve come to the conclusion these melted lipsticks aren’t really my thing. (If you love matte you will probably love these!)
Ciate Mini Paint Pot in Cha Cha Cha:
This is my second time trying a Ciate nail polish and it didn’t disappoint! Cha Cha Cha is a vibrant medium orange that dries matte. (It looks almost jelly like!) It is somewhat sheer, I used 3 coats in my swatch and you can still see a little bit of the nail line. I also added a top coat for extra shine!
Oribe Surfcomber Tousled Texture Mousse:
I really like this mousse…if it’s used right. They pretty much nailed their review in the little booklet. It is a VERY sticky mousse that is applied to DRY hair. You seriously only need a little bit. I used too much on one side of my hair and it was so stiff almost like I applied glue to my hair. I had to add water to soften it and let it re-dry. (Im pretty sure it could be used to pull off a “Theres Something About Mary” lol…) However, it has a very pleasant sent and makes my slightly wavy hair just a little bit sexier and the waves last all day!
Kate Somerville Dilo Oil:
I did not try this sample because my face and oils don’t mix well! However it is supposed to improve skin hydration, improve the look of skin firmness and elasticity, even skin tone, and help to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
I was really happy I decided to try this box and I will defiantly be sticking around to see if it holds up as a great box. I really like everything besides the oil so it was a win for me!
