Hey All! I have had these lipsticks for a while now and I finally got around to reviewing them. 😀
The Body Shop is known for their fantastic line of body care, but they also make a ton of other great products including skincare, haircare, home fragrance, men’s items and makeup! These Colour Crush lipsticks were the first makeup item I’ve tried from them and I have to say that I am smitten and can’t wait to try some of their other beauty products.
I took a risk and ended up buying these online. (I say risk because their online swatches leave little to be desired.) However, I also looked up some online reviews to get a better idea. I chose color #201 (Red Hot Raspberry) and #225 (Blushing Pink.) I also bought their Lip Line Fixer, a clear pencil you apply to the outside or your lip line to prevent bleeding and feathering.
These lipsticks have a slight scent, its described as a rose scent online but I find it to be a “generic lipstick” scent. Its not too strong or overpowering in my opinion though.
#201 (Red Hot Raspberry)– Is a bright, deep, cool toned magenta.
#225 (Blushing Pink)– Is medium warm pink with a slight touch of coral.
Colour Crush Lipstick #201:
*Swoon* This color is so stunning and the formula is fantastic. It is insanely pigmented and glides onto lips with ease. It has a glossy finish that fades slightly after about 2 hrs. The color however lasts about 6-8 hours and even stays on through light meals. It is somewhat hydrating, but gets less hydrating as time goes on. I usually end up applying a clear gloss or balm on top after a few hours to refresh the color and keep my lips comfortable. (This also leaves a nice stain on the lips.) I was seriously impressed with this color and I get lots of compliments whenever I wear it.
Colour Crush Lipstick #225:
While this color is pretty, I was slightly less impressed. This shade settles into lip lines more (as do most lighter colors on me) however, you can’t really tell as long as you are a normal distance from my face… 😛 Also, this color doesn’t last as long (again, same as most lighter colors I’ve tried.) I get about 4 hrs of wear before I need to re-apply. The formula is the same though, creamy and somewhat hydrating but this one has more of a slight matte finish. I do like this color its just not as stunning!
This product is supposed to help bleeding and feathering of lip products and I think it does. However, it does have a slight white tint to it, so I suggest using it sparingly to avoid looking like you have a dried toothpaste ring on the edges of your lips. It’s also nice because its a twist up and doesn’t have to be sharpened.
Overall I was really impressed with these lipsticks and I am considering picking up some more shades for fall!
Have you ventured into The Body Shop‘s world of makeup yet? Hope you have a lovely day, xo- Kristina
