Happy Halloween everyone!! What are you all up to tonight…halloween party…trick-or treating? We are going trick-or-treating with the kids tonight, so hopefully it won’t be too cold! Last night we carved our pumpkin and then toasted the seeds, it was a lot of fun!
A little while ago CVS rolled out their new and exclusive makeup/beauty collection called MUA Makeup Academy. (NOTE: This brand is not the same as the UK brand of the same name…I don’t know why they do that.)
As of now the MUA line is made up of Lip Products, False Lashes and Makeup Brushes. I had reviewed some of their stuff on My Highest Self a few weeks ago, and was eager to try more to review for you here! (Click photos to enlarge!)
As you can see, their lip product selection is HUGE! There are so many different colors and finishes to choose from, so I picked 4 from different categories to show you.
Top to Bottom:
Color Intense Lipstick in #253 Orchid– As the name depicts, this lipstick line is super pigmented and intense! The color Orchid is a bright raspberry creme with a smooth creamy finish. It wears well for about 5 hrs with light snacking. I love the formula in this line!
Lip Color Crayon in #352 Mauve– This twist up crayon is very sheer and moisturizing. The color Mauve leaves behind a light purplish tint to the lips. The color doesn’t last more than 2-3 hrs, but you can re apply without a mirror so touch-ups are easy peasy!
Extreme Shimmer Lipstick in #288 Rose Gold– This line offers decently pigmented lipstick with tons of shimmer. It goes on smoothly, but as time goes on it gets a little bit gritty on the lips due to the shimmer. I’m not a huge fan of shimmer, so i’d probably skip this line if you feel the same. Wear time was decent at about 4 hrs.
Liquid Lipstick in #202 Rose– This was the most disappointing of the bunch. The color rose is lovely, but the formula is horrid. It is described on the site as “High pigment formulation, comfortable texture, lightweight formula, smooth application and feel of a creamy gloss.” Most of which I found to be false. It applied easily sure, but it quickly dried to a heavy matte texture that gave an unappealing finish and stayed tacky the entire time I wore it. I could only stand it for about 3 hrs, but I’m sure it would have stuck around for a lot longer than that. I really wouldn’t recommend these “liquid lipsticks.”
There are a lot of other lip finishes from this brand and maybe i’ll review some more in the future! For now, I would defiantly say their Color Intense Lipsticks, Lip Crayons, and Luminizing Lip Glosses are all winners!
You can buy MUA products online, or search for a store near you to see if they offer a full assortment. (Some stores only sell the brushes.)
