I think Julep has really been on a roll lately with their polish colors. Which is why i’ve been taking so many boxes in recent months! February’s collection is dubbed “The Afterglow Collection” and that is very fitting considering they debuted some new highlighting/ brightening products this month.
I chose the Boho Glam box which included the new Glow Highlighting Powder, Hazel and Brandis. (For some reason I thought the new fan brush was included with the highlighter, but I guess that would have been too good to be true…) I also added on Ada in the new “Fizzy” finish and as a bonus, Julep included Hartleigh in all of the maven boxes this month. How sweet!
Also, I went a little crazy filing my nails a few days ago, so pardon my little nubby nails. 😉
Brandis is a lovely Turquoise creme. I ended up only having to use 1 coat in my photo! This looks like it would be a good dupe for Butter London’s Slapper. ($14 for .27 oz) And c’mon what 90’s girl didn’t think of Jonathan Brandis when they saw the shade name? RIP cutie…
Ugh, the beauty…when I saw Hazel I knew I had to get the Boho Glam box. Hazel is described as a wild violet and bronze duo chrome. However, I see more of a violet and blue finish, which is still gorgeous. The formula is kind of thin, so I used 2 coats on most nails but some required 3. ($14)
Glow Highlighting Powder:
The Glow Highlighting Powder is described as a multitasking marvel designed to play up light and play down wrinkles, discoloration, and pores. It is a simmering champagne shade. The formula is really nice and isn’t too powdery. I have a mini fan brush that I used to apply it and it gives a nice glow-y finish. It does border on the almost too shimmery side for me, so I just use it very sparingly. ($28 for .42 oz.)
Ada is a bright rhubarb in the new”fizzy” finish and it’s quite adorable. It’s kind of like a jelly finish with tiny white glitter pieces throughout. There’s just something about this finish I really like, I hope they make it available in more shades! The formula is also pretty great, I used 2 thin coats for my swatch. ($14)
Hartleigh (bonus freebie):
Hartleigh is described as a holographic heart glitter top coat. I wanted my review to be very accurate, so I didn’t go “searching” for hearts to get them on my nail. I applied it just like I would any other glitter top coat and I was slightly disappointed…I only got 2 hearts on my middle finger (go figure) and on my other hand I got zero hearts on my nails. Bummer. It is pretty with out the hearts too, but if you want the hearts, you’re going to have to work for them. At least it seems like I would have to. But it was free so I can’t really complain all that much! (I used 1 coat over LVX Cashmere.) $14
All in all, I really enjoyed this box. The highlighting powder was a really nice new product to try and I absolutely loved all the polishes I picked! I am also kind of curious about the new Illume Eye Brightener that was released this month, it’s getting pretty good reviews. Did any of you get that one?
