Hey everyone, how was your weekend? So, there is a little story behind this purchase of my first ever NARS product. If you remember a few months ago, I got the Urban Decay Full Frontal Lipstick Stash set. Well, I went to go use one of the lipsticks the other week and I noticed it had a whitish cast/fuzz on the outside. I checked the rest and most of them had it. Weird, because I keep all my makeup in the same place and it’s never happened before. Needless to say, I returned it to Sephora and ended up buying this Lip Pencil. And I have to tell you, I am so glad I did…
NARS Says: “The Satin Lip Pencil dresses up lips in statement shades that seduce with rich, color-bright pigments while drenching them in decadent moisture. A modern, long-wearing, vitamin-enriched formula in a jumbo pencil format to provide great wear and intense color with a satin finish.”
The container is sleek and the product is housed in a black wood pencil like material that you need to sharpen. (The UD Grindhouse Double Barrel Sharpener works fantastic, but if you want to save yourself $8.00 Essence makes one that is also great!) I really like the size of this pencil because it’s thin enough to easily achieve a precise application.
It is a softer formula so you might want to think about where you are keeping it in the hot summer months. Yu is a bright, cool fuchsia pink with a satin/semi-gloss finish. The color is so amazingly saturated it pretty much melts onto your lips when you apply it. Like buttah…
Fun Fact: The Satin Lip Pencil Category shade designations are all named for parks and gardens around the world. Yuyuan (Yu) Garden is a famous classical garden located in Shanghai, China that was constructed during the Ming Dynasty. Also known as the “Garden of Contentment.”
It also lasted a crazy amount of time! I had this on about 4 hrs before I ate dinner and it still looked great when I was done eating. The finish was a little bit dulled, but even after blotting my lips a bit the color was perfect! I applied a little bit more just to get the glossiness back then I went to work for 4 hrs and it remained intact until I removed it at 11:30! I can’t speak for the lighter pigmented shades, but this one is amazing.
I know this lip pencil is on the expensive side, but in my opinion, it is 100% worth the money. Especially if you like bold lip colors. I am going to be saving to buy another one soon enough! $26 for .07 oz. (Ships free from Nordstrom.com.)
