Greetings fellow polish lovers! I’m going to be reviewing my Julep Maven Box for April. This months theme is “The Paradise Collection” and I chose the Boho Glam box with some add-ons. I have to say, I really loved all the colors offered this month and it was tough to choose.
(Slight Rant) However, I am also a little frustrated because as someone who is still “grandfathered” in to the $19.99 plan, I am feeling somewhat shortchanged. This month Julep debuted 2 new brow products, a clear brow gel and colored brow powders. I wanted to get a brow powder (obviously) with some of the new polish shades, but they only had the powder in a set with “old” polishes that I already own. I guess I could upgrade to the $24.99 plan, but I am trying to save a few bucks wherever I can because I already spend a good amount of money on beauty products. I just don’t feel like it’s fair for Julep to be doing this to longtime Mavens. (RANT OVER) 😉
So, I chose the Boho Glam Box which included April, Danica and the Lock Down Your Brows Clear Brow Gel. I also added on Randi, Jenna and some chevron nail decals (because if you do 3 or more add-ons, you get an extra product!) The extra product they sent me was a lip gloss in Vivid, an iridescent burgundy shimmer. I will just be reviewing the polish because I have a special giveaway at the end of the post…
April is described as a Vermillion Creme. It is deep coral red creme and covered perfectly in 2 coats.
Danica is described as a blue violet iridescent chrome. You can’t really see the purple in my pic, but it is slightly there as a shift color. It also has aqua and pink micro glitter. A lot of the reviews said this is more purple than blue, but I don’t get that at all. Also, as some reviewers noted, the formula is thin (I used 3 coats) and has a bad smell to it, not like Julep’s other polishes. Other than that is is very pretty.
Randi is described as a pink plumeria creme. I think it is slightly bolder than the photo on Julep’s site shows. Also, it dries to a satin/matte finish, so you have to add a top coat to get the shine. This was also great in 2 coats, it’s one of my faves!
Jenna is described as a Tangerine burst creme. It is a slightly muted orange and covered well in 2 coats. I wasn’t all that impressed with this one.
All in all, I really loved most of the colors I chose but was a little disappointed with the box setup. I have ordered the Brow Powder separately BTW! 🙂 Annnd, I have been collecting various Julep products for a few months and have compiled enough for a decent sized giveaway!!
