We had our first sunny and 70º day here a few days ago and it really gave me the thirst for summer time! And when it comes to beauty, nothing says “summer” to me more than fun, neon colors on nails and toes. Orly recently released a Color Amp’d Collection, and a few of them certainly fit that bill, so grab your shades and get ready to view these beautiful brights!
The Color Amp’d formula is a 2 step “no-smudge” flexible color system that wears for up to a week, about 88% longer than traditional manicures. Their innovative formula contains shock absorbing polymers allowing the finish of your manicure to bounce back, remain elastic and flex with the nail, and reducing chipping.- Orly
The Orly Color Amp’d Collection is available exclusively at Target and I ordered these online. I was a little surprised that these came shipped in a box with only 1 air pack packing bubble and were not wrapped or padded in anyway. They were just kind of slamming around in there, luckily nothing broke… Also, I had a hell of a time photographing the more neon shades and in natural light they weren’t showing up true to color at all in my photographs. I tried it again in my light tent and the color accuracy was near perfect! Yay!
I didn’t buy the seal coat, because the colors are $9.99 each. They do make starter kits for $14.99 that come with a color + top coat, but at the time, the 2 neon ones that I wanted were sold out.
Sunset Strip is a super bright medium orange. It is even slightly brighter in person than my photo shows. It also looks like a slightly flat finish here, but that is because I photographed in my light tent, they do have a shiny finish. Also, the coverage and formula are awesome for a neon polish. (I remember having a hell of a time with the OPI neons released last year.) The formula is opaque, smooth and covers perfectly in 2 coats!
LA Selfie is a vivid, bright barbie pink. Same deal as Sunset Strip, glossy finish and a fantastic formula that only took 2 coats.
Valley Girl is a bright “grape jelly” purple. This formula was slightly different than the others. It was much thinner and I needed 3 thin coats. It also has less of a neon aspect and more of a jelly look. I love this one!
I like all of the colors I picked, but surprisingly I like Valley Girl the best. Although I do think Sunset Strip would be an amazing pedicure shade! I am planning to pick up the Seal Coat and perhaps a few more colors from the collection down the road…
What do you think of these brights? Are they something you would wear for summer?
