Ever since Too Faced came out with the Melted Metal Lipsticks I have been dying to get one (ok, I’ve been dying for all of them, but lets be real here.) I loved the idea of the regular Melted Lipsticks, but I’ve found them to be just too drying for my personal taste. Well, I heard that these Metal Metal ones were supposed to be less drying and more comfortable, so thats what really perked my interest in trying them. Also, when ordering my 1 lonely lipstick from toofaced.com, I saw that they were giving a free sample trio of their newest Born This Way Foundation with every order. Score! I’ve been wanting to try it since I’ve heard of its release, so I figured I’d give the sample a test run before I buy a full bottle.
The foundation sample trio came with Vanilla, Light Beige, and Sand and I chose the Melted Metal Lipstick in Peony.
The Born This Way Foundation will be available on June 15th on toofaced.com (July 15th in stores) and it promises undetectable medium-to-full coverage. It’s infused with coconut water (to replenish skins’s moisture levels), alpine rose (to brighten skin’s appliance and promote elasticity), and hyaluronic acid (for a smoother, more youthful appearance). $39
Vanilla was slightly too yellow for my skin tone, so I blended it with some of the Light Beige. It definitely has great pigment to it and blended easily into skin. I applied it with my trusty Real Techniques brush and it wasn’t streaky and covered most of my blemishes without issue. I only had to touch up a few, but I would have felt totally OK going out without applying concealer. It looked great on my skin at first, but after a few hours I noticed it starting to break around my t-zone. There was only enough for me to try it once, but at this point I would say that I liked it enough to buy a full size bottle and play around with it. If you aren’t willing to shell out the high price tag for this new foundation, I would suggest my favorite Revlon Colorstay which gives me similar (and longer lasting) results.

The Melted Metal Lipstick in Peony is a metallic dusty rose. Like the original Melted Lipsticks, this is extremely pigmented and pretty much only required a one swipe pass. When first applied it is very creamy and slightly slippery on the lips, somewhat similar to a lipgloss. After an hour or so it starts to dry down a little bit, but you are still able to rub your lips together. All in all, I got about 4 hours of comfortable wear. The color is absolutely gorgeous, and it has been my go-to all week! I would definitely buy another shade from the Melted Metal line. $21
