Julep’s June Maven collection is dubbed The Deep End which I am thinking is a nod to the hot summer months and the deep end of the pool being where you want to be! This collection is full of sun-catching shimmers, 2 new Jellies, and summer-time blues! Julep has also re-vamped their Luxe Lip Conditioning Treatment (which I previously didn’t care for.) They added more color, more richness for a silkier feel and they are now calling it the Luxe Up Your Lips Conditioning Treatment.
I ended up choosing the Boho Glam box which included: Isabela, Manda and a Lip Conditioning Treatment in my choice of color.
Isabela is described as an Amparo blue creme. It is a medium smoky blue and it is darker in real life compared to what Julep shows online. I LOVE this color, it is gorgeous, has a great formula and I only used one coat in my above swatch! in fact it is a pretty close dupe to Sally Hansen’s cult favorite Pacific Blue (the original formula.)
Manda is described as a sky blue with golden shimmer. I tried to get a shot in the sun to show the shimmer, but you can just barely see it. It is slightly more noticeable in person and gives a lovely light and fresh effect to this pretty blue. However, the formula was thick and I found it tough to work with. You are best off doing 3 very thin coats, if you put too much at once it clumps up and becomes very streaky. I did 3 thin coats in my photo above.
Luxe Up Your Lips Conditioning Treatment:
This new lip treatment in Poppy is only slightly more pigmented than the original. I do love the cooling metal tips but I still don’t care for the super juicy/wet formula. it just doesn’t feel all that conditioning for me and wears off rather quickly.
I also ended up adding on the Are You Ready For This Jelly trio because I really wanted to try the 2 new ones Julep released! I haven’t tried playing around with them and doing any jelly sandwiches, but I just want to give you an idea of the consistency of them.
Ming was the first Jelly formula Julep did and it is described as a sheer wild orchid jelly. I did 2 coats in my photo above and although it is pretty sheer, I actually love the effect. I think it would make a lovely bridal mani color, just make sure your nail whites are clean and bright!
Lori is one of the new Julep jelly’s and it is described as a pressed marionberry jelly. I also did 2 coats of this color and it was slightly more opaque and has a nice smooth formula. it really does remind me of juicy jam!
Tiffany is the other new jelly shade and it is described as a pink radish jelly. This is my favorite of the box! This squishy looking strawberry red is SO perfect for summer. I also used 2 coats for this photo and the formula is fantastic.
Overall, this box was a total hit for me, mostly because of the new Jelly polishes! I loved Isabela, but Manda and the Poppy lip treatment were slightly disappointing. I really hope Julep does more Jelly’s and I’d also love to see some holographic polishes too!
