Hey there blog friends! What are you up to this weekend?
We are going camping again, this time to Jellystone Park which is a kid themed park with Yogi, Boo-Boo and Cindi Bear mascots. There is a ton of things for kids to do there so they should have fun! Also, I used to go there as a kid so I am kind of excited to go back and see what has changed and what not. The only weird thing that I just thought of is that my kids don’t even know who Yogi Bear is, so they probably won’t be that excited to see him LOL!
Anyway, enough rambling. I’m going to talk about a few of the new L’Oreal Le Matte and La Lacque Lipsticks that I recently spotted at CVS! I have 3 of each variety to show you, but I wish I just bought them all to get a full comparison.
L to R: Mad For Matte, Game, Set & Matte, Matte-R of Fact, Lacque-Y You, Lacque and Roll, Lacque-Y Charm
So, as you can see these new L’Oreal Lipsticks are offered in a smooth lacquer and creamy matte finishes. They are shaped more like lipliners than lipsticks which offers a precise application. These are a twist up style, so there is no sharpening needed which is ok, but overtime the tip becomes more rounded unless you use it on an angle. One thing I really didn’t care for with these is the scent. It is that very strong fake scent that usually accompanied vintage lipsticks and boy, does it linger. (For some reason Lacque and Roll had the strongest scent.)
L’Oreal Le Mattes:
The mattes are all buttery soft and almost have a silicone like slip to them. The darker shades are very pigmented and apply easily with only a few strokes. The lighter one required more strokes and still applied a bit patchy on my lips. These mattes are very comfortable and still allow you to rub your lips together, which is something I like. They are probably more of a satin-matte finish than a true matte.
Mad for Matte is a bold warm red with orange undertones.
Game, Set & Matte is a light peachy pink. If you look, you can see it didn’t really adhere to the inner part of my bottom lip.
Matte-R of Fact is a deep purple berry. It was a lot more purple than I thought it would be from looking at it in the tube, but I like it. It kind of reminds me of Milani’s Matte Glam.
L’Oreal La Lacques:
The lacques are all very thick and creamy. They feel heavy on the lips, but not really in a bad way just like they are going to stick around for a while. They offer a moderate amount of shine and they wear off a little unevenly, leaving me with more pigment around the edges than in the center of my lips.
Lacque-Y You is a deep mauve berry. I love this one for fall!
Lacque and Roll is a bright fuchsia berry. This one bled like a SOB after a few hours. I guess I will need to line the outside of my lips with clear liner before wearing this!
Lacque-Y Charm is a soft brownish mauve.
Overall, I wasn’t as wowed by these as I thought I was going to be. The formulas on the mattes are really nice, but the scent really gets to me. However, these are BOGO 50% at Ulta right now, and you can use the $3.50 off $10 coupon they have out to get yourself a pretty good deal. They retail for about $8.99 ($9.99 at Ulta.)
Have you tried these new lipsticks yet? Do you think you’d be interested in trying them?
