I don’t want this to come off as “braggy” sounding, but I feel lucky to have been blessed with pretty good lashes. I pretty much like most mascaras that I try unless they end up flaking or smudging under my eyes as the day goes on. However, I know many women who are not happy with their lashes, one of them being a very good friend of mine. She is ALWAYS trying different mascaras and none of them seem to do the trick for her short, barely there lashes. I really feel bad for her struggle!
Lancôme recently sent over a lovely package and one of the goodies was the Cils Booster XL primer, which really intrigued me. I decided to pair it with one of the mascaras they also sent to take it for a test drive.
Here are the benefits of the Cils Lash Booster XL via Lancôme:
- Lengthens and thickens lashes without clumping
- Smoothes eyelashes by coating them thinly and evenly—emphasizing even the shortest lashes
- Intensifies color of your favorite mascara
- D-Panthénol and Vitamin E to protect and condition lashes
- Triangular, thin-shaped brush
- Provides a white base for mascara to cover
I find that this really does a great job at defining and separating lashes so I can see it being a good fit for those with short or very light lashes that are hard to cover. I also feel like it intensifies the color of mascara and also helps it last longer on your lashes.
About the Définicils Mascara via Lancôme:
“The number 1 mascara for over 16 years! For lavishly long, perfectly defined lashes, this iconic award-winning mascara provides the ultimate in separation. Carefully selected polymers coat each lash from root to tip, to help lengthen and outline each lash for unmatched definition. This best-selling mascara’s unique brush applicator has specially grooved bristles that hold the perfect amount of product for gradual, even application every time.”
Ok, a little FYI…mascaras that lengthen and define are my favorite kind so I am totally in love with this! I love the natural bristle brush and it gives the most natural dainty look ever (when used without the primer.) When I paired it with the primer, I found that it gave more volume as opposed to definition and it lasted longer on the lashes with the primer as well. Although, I didn’t experience any flaking or smudging without the primer either, so that’s a plus!
Here is a little demo that shows my steps from bare lashes to the finishing mascara. My other eye (that I didn’t use the primer on) looked a bit more separated, which I prefer, but those with shorter lashes may appreciate the benefits of using a lash primer more than I did.
I plan on trying the Cils Booster XL with the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara, which I want to love but it smudges like crazy on me! I’m hoping it will help with that. Overall, I LOVE the Définicils Mascara, but the primer isn’t a necessity for me to use with this particular mascara.
