Good morning lovely ladies, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The chill is really starting to settle in the air here in NH, but yesterday was a great day because we got to go apple picking at Parlee Farms! The kids had so much fun and we now have a ton of apples (well actually its a peck of apples to be exact) so I am going to be baking some goodies real soon.
Anyway, welcome to today’s review. I’m sure most of you have heard of Butter London before, right? They are famous for their fabulously cheeky nail lacquers and they also have a few lines of killer lip products. Most recently though, they have stepped into the eyeshadow game and created a line of gorgeous shadows in a sleek and customizable palette which is known as the Butter London Shadow Clutch!
And it is a thing of beauty:
Now, I have switched the shadows around a bit in the photo above, but they offer 2 different sets of palettes: Natural Charm (earth tones) or Pretty Proper (cool tones) and 4 different “wardrobe duo’s” to customize your palette with some bolder shades! Each palette contains 6 vivid eye shadow shades and a dual-ended brush, which was actually missing from the clutch I received! 🙁 Also, the mirror in the palette is adjustable to any angle and doesn’t just fall down when you let it go, which is great because that is a real pet peeve of mine with some palettes.
“Primer-infused, oil absorbing, skin-balancing shadows that pack on true colour payoff. Show one off or layer them on with seamless blendability; you’ll crave the luxe range of irresistible go-to hues and textures. All this in a chic, customizable clutch featuring a unique, dual-ended brush for limitless colour potential and eye-popping style. This is truly covet-worthy colour with care.” butterlondon.com
Swatches (click to enlarge):
Natural Charm (L to R):
• Camo – Dark Khaki Sheen.
• Linen – Matte Vanilla
• Citrine – Coral Sheen
• Camel – Matte Nude
• Quartz – Warm Beige Sheen
• Leather – Matte Chocolate Brown
• Sapphire- Deep Navy Sheen
• Sequins- Light Mint Green Sheen
• Plume- Chameleon Sheen
• Feather- Beige Sheen
Nearly all of the shadows were very pigmented and easy to work with but Linen was the only one that felt a little dry and chalky. Seriously though, 1 dud out of 10 is pretty damn great in my book! I swatched them all on bare skin too, which is impressive in itself considering the amount of pigmentation.
I really favor neutral shades so I am loving whats included in the Natural Charm palette, but Sapphire and Plume are top notch quality and they are just SO gorgeous to look at! Plume is like a duo chrome of a mint green shimmer in a brick red base….its an interesting combo, crazy soft and pigmented.
Day Look (L): For my eyes I used Linen, Camel, Quartz and Camo all from the Naturally Pretty Palette and the Butter London Iconoclast Mascara. For my lips I used the Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon in Teddy Boy to line the outside of my lips and dabbed Tea with the Queen in the centers.
Night Look (R): For my eyes I used Linen & Camel from the Naturally Pretty palette and Plume & Feather from the Fancy Flutter Duo plus Iconoclast Mascara. For my lips, I lined the outside with Toff and dabbed Disco Biscuit in the middle.
Switching your shadows really couldn’t be any easier. You simply pop open the interior hinged part of the case, slide the row out with the shadow you want to replace, slide the new shadow on, snap it shut and voila! It also has a stop at the end (left side) of the palette so the shadows don’t slide off both ways.
Even though I’m not the greatest at doing eye makeup I thought that these shadows were very easy to use and they work so well together to create a multitude of different looks! I really can’t wait to create some different ones. Plus, I really love how you can customize the palette to suit your tastes or any different occasion, it’s definitely small enough to be brought along to an event for touchups. The palettes are $39 each, the duos are $15 and you can find them at Butter London or Ulta.
