Mascara is one of the beauty products that I LOVE trying out. (I for one, certainly have no shortage thanks to subscription boxes.) There are so many different kinds that promise various and sometimes “incredible” results. Lengthening, volumizing, separating, curling, and the list goes on. Personally, I love mascaras that give separation and a bit of volume with a smudge/flake free formula. Thats certainly not too much to ask for, right?
Today I will be talking about the Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara that has a few neat features itself…
This mascara features the industry’s first “swan-neck™” wand that is curved in a way that is supposed to work with the shape of your face for access to all lashes and giving the ultimate in length, lift and volume. The mascara tube is impressive, and sexy to look at. The solid plastic top goes ombre from clear to black and features the iconic Lancôme rose symbol. My only “complaint” is that the bottom is quite wide, but that is to accommodate the brush inside which requires a larger radius to turn.
Here is what Lancôme says about the Grandiôse mascara:
“Patented swan-neck ™ wand allows you to reach every lash from corner to corner, working with the contours of the face and eye Elastomer molded brush in monoi flower shape allows for maximum and even deposit of the formula, even the smallest lashes are coated.
Formula is ultra black glossy, quick drying and is the only formula with rose-cell extract so lashes remain soft and supple.
Formula contains less waxes for intense color with no smudging or flaking through the day.”
So, the curve of the wand is pretty interesting and it took me a few test runs to get comfortable with it. I think it makes it slightly easier to get the lashes in the corners of your eyes. I know sometimes I have an issue with hitting a straight mascara wand on the middle of my nose in-between my eyes, but if you hold this correctly it helps avoid that when you are applying product into the corners.
The formula of this is pretty great too. It is very black and kind of thick, and it coats my lashes fully with only 1 coat. It also dries quickly which I like. I prefer to stick to 1 coat on this (and most) mascara because it can get a bit clumpy. If you want to add 2 coats though, you could comb through with a lash comb before the second one. I’m just too lazy for that…
Before I started, I curled my lashes with the Lancôme Le Curler. It works well, but I wish it had a bigger opening. (The picture above shows the curler fully open.) I found that the smaller opening made it slightly difficult for me to get all my lashes in and a few ended up getting pinched. :/
Before & After
Here is my before and after using just 1 coat of the Grandiôse mascara. I think it lives up to it’s claims of lengthening, lift and volume for sure and it didn’t flake off or smudge all day! Looks like my mascara requirements were met with this beauty. As for the shape, the verdict is still out on whether or not it is a necessary component of this mascara…
