Hey everybody, hope you all had a nice weekend!
I received The Essentials Palette from Cargo a week or so ago and instead of doing a typical review on it, I thought I would do a makeup look for the Holidays that revolved around it. I honestly haven’t tried many Cargo Cosmetics products, but believe me, I’ve wanted to. Their products always look so pretty and this palette is no exception.
All of the shadows are housed in a New York themed case with a mirror and magnetic closure. Inside is a dual ended brush, which I found to work nicely, and a black eye pencil. The shadows all have New York inspired names which I think is rather cute. There are 4 metallic shades and the rest have a matte/satin-matte finish. They were all pretty nice, but as you can see, the bottom row is much more pigmented than the top (I swatched over primer.) I didn’t have any issues with fall out and they wore incredibly well for 8 hrs.
For my eye look I used: Uptown, District, Industry and Hub.
Sexy Holiday Makeup Look
For my look, I started out with a base of Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer (which is awesome and I’ll be reviewing soon), followed by my favorite Revlon ColorStay Foundation in 150 Buff. I used Laura Geller’s Tropic Hues blush and contoured my cheekbones and nose a tiny bit with Tarte’s Park Ave Princess bronzer.
For my eyes, I used the Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer and shades from Cargo’s The Essentials Palette. I then did my brows with Julep’s Don’t Leave Your Brows at Home brow gel in Cool Brown and lashes with Pacifica’s Stellar Gaze Mascara. To complete the look, I used the L’Oreal Le Matte Lip Color in Mad for Matte on my lips. You could switch out this red for any other bold color you like, or you can tone down the whole look by opting for a nude lip.
So, I am really happy with the way this look turned out actually, and I re-discovered how much I love the Le Matte lip color! The Cargo Palette was really nice overall and it’s currently on sale for $25.50 at Ulta (regular $34) so if you like it, it’s a good time to buy!
