Following hot on the heels of the release of their Cameo Contour Sticks, PUR Cosmetics has launched the new HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation line. I was really excited to try them because I was pretty pleased with the Contour Sticks and Eye Polishes. I have all of the 5 foundation shades to show you today, so read on!
About the foundation:
“PÜR Cosmetics‘ encapsulated water complex delivers Swiss Alps-sourced water to hydrate the skin for lasting radiance while providing silky, medium coverage. Also, Ceretin Complex helps smooth, firm and lift the skin’s appearance for a hydrated, ageless complexion.”
First of all, I really like the packaging of these foundations. Yes, pumps are great, but this tube style really lets you get every last drop of product out. It dispenses neatly with no dripping or mess getting all over the cap. I also like that you can see the foundation color through the little window, but the shade name isn’t labeled anywhere on the tube. That isn’t really a problem if you are only buying one, but with 5 shades I was getting a little mixed up.
Shades L to R: Light, Medium, Tan, Dark, Deep
The formula is moderately loose, and it needs to be shaken before use. It provides medium coverage that can be built up while still looking natural, especially if you use a beauty blender to apply it. I say it’s a good “winter makeup” because it has a fresh dewy finish that leaves me looking youthful and hydrated, but in the summer I can see it quickly turning into a shiny mess with my oily/combo skin. If you have dry skin though, this would probably be great year round.
The only other issue I had with this is the color. The shade selection is pretty minimal and the lightest shade was still a tad too dark for my pale winter skin, but it will probably be ok in the summer. I have been mixing it with a foundation that is too light for me, but I don’t get the same radiant finish when I do that.
Wearing the PUR HydraFluid Foundation in Light (mixed with a lighter foundation), NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Toasted Marshmallow, Youngblood Cosmetics blush in Dusty Pink, and Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara.
Overall, if one of the shades is a good match for you and you have normal or dry skin, I think you will love this foundation! I hope they expand their shade range though, because I could see this being a winter favorite for me if I had a better match.
Does the new PUR Cosmetics HydraFluid Foundation interest you? Do you think they need more shade options?
