NYX has so many great new items out right now, they are on such a roll! A few weeks ago when I bought the Plum Pro Lip Palette, I also picked up a couple of the new NYX Ombre Blush shades. I don’t know why, but I have been on SUCH a blush kick lately and these looked way too pretty to pass up.
There are currently 8 shades of Ombre Blush available (although right now there are only 6 on Ulta.com) and each one contains 2 coordinating shades that can be applied separately or swirled together. From soft neutrals to vibrant brights, the color range offered is pretty great! The compact is a sturdy black plastic and it’s pretty standard as far as what I have come to expect from NYX. The compacts also contain a mirror which is nice if you take these on the go, but they don’t open very far so it’s a little bit awkward to actually use.
NYX Ombre Blush
These are fairly powdery and kick up a moderate amount of dust, especially when I swirl the colors together. I also used a firm blush brush at first, but switched to a softer one because it seems to create less mess and wasted product. Someone recently asked me when I shared a pic of these online if the ombre is an over spray and I am 98% sure it’s not. I swirled one of of them quite aggressively with my finger and a brush, and while the colors did blend together a bit, when I blew off the excess product the ombre was still there. Both of these also had awesome pigmentation, so be sure to use a light hand at first, then you can build up to your desired level of intensity.
- MAUVE ME is a cool toned mauve with a sheen, almost like a built in highlighter. The colors included are described as: Shimmer Lilac (top) and Shimmer Mauve (bottom). This is such a soft, pretty spring shade.
- SOFT FLUSH is a bright, warm coral. The colors are described as: Pink Champagne (top) and Bright Coral (bottom). I definitely try to go on the light side with this shade, but it creates such a warm flush that is perfect for summer time!
At $10 each, these are currently the most expensive blush that NYX offers, but I have been thoroughly enjoying them and feel that they are most certainly worth the moolah IMO. When you think about it, 10 bucks isn’t really all that much in the grand scheme of the makeup world. I also have my eye on the Ista Flame & Sweet Spring colors! Don’t forget, NYX is a cruelty free brand and they are currently (as of 3/24) on sale for BOGO 50% off at Ulta!
