I have been a fan of patchouli and patchouli based scents for a long time now. The scent can be overpowering when used in excess, but when used in moderation or mixed in a base, it truly does have a calming/grounding effect. Also, the fact that one of my favorite skincare brands put out a patchouli line has me doubly excited. Nubian Heritage started in 1992 when 2 college grads started making luxurious all natural products from traditional African recipes. The company has always prided itself on using organic and fair trade ingredients as well as being cruelty free!
The scent of this line is warm, rich, spicy and completely intoxicating. The patchouli notes aren’t overpowering, but you can tell they are in there. It’s subtle and smooth, so if you’ve been wary of patchouli based fragrances in the past, this might be the way to go! You might also be wondering what Buriti is…so I’m going to give you the gist. Buriti is a fruit from the Buriti Palm (also know as “the tree of life.”) Buriti oil has high Beta-carotene, Vitamin E and Vitamin C content which supports collagen production and provides hydration.
Nubian Heritage Patchouli & Buriti
The Patchouli & Buriti Body Wash has a thinner consistency than some of their other scents I’ve tried in the past. However, I think it’s perfect for summer when my skin isn’t all that dry. It lathers up very nicely and the scent completely envelopes you like a nice warm hug. I do have one word of caution though. I usually use my body washes as a shaving medium, but when I shaved with this it broke me out into a terrible rash that lasted a few days. If I use it regularly, I’m fine… its so strange!
I have never actually used a bath bomb before (shocking, I know) so I don’t have any others to compare it too. I put it in while the tub was still running and it was dissolved in about 2 minutes. It had a wonderful scent and left my skin feeling soft. I am a big fan of bubble baths, so the only draw back is that there are no bubbles here. (I added a bit of the body wash though, so it was all good!)
This is the crown jewel of the collection! The Body Soufflé provides intense hydration and a little really goes a long way. I love to use it on damp skin right when I get out of the shower, and my skin stays soft all day! Over time, my skin looks healthier with more of an overall glow.
I’ve gotta say, Nubian Heritage has done it again. This is definitely a new favorite scent of mine, along with some of their others like Coconut & Papaya, and Shea Butter!
