I can’t believe that these are my first ever products from Hourglass Cosmetics! Of course I’ve always wanted to try one of their cult favorite Ambient Lighting Powders, but my budget usually prevented me from doing so. Luckily, (thanks to Ipsy) I was able to save points and snag these 2 beauties from the Ipsy Rewards area! I ended up choosing the Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Vanilla, and the Ambient Light Correcting Primer in Luminous Light. Thankfully, the foundation was a perfect match!
First up, the Ambient Light Correcting Primer comes in 3 different “lights” to help achieve your desired effect. I have the Luminous Light primer, which is a champagne pearl that brightens light to create a luminous candlelit glow. The first thing I noticed upon using, is that this primer is very thick and pigmented. When I applied it to my face, I also noticed that it is fairly dry and a little difficult to rub in evenly. It doesn’t dry out my face, but it has almost a chalky kind of texture. I find that I have to work in sections at a somewhat fast speed so it doesn’t get patchy. That being said, it does help even out my complexion and my foundation looks great for the better part of a day. I wouldn’t wear this alone, because it does impart a white cast to the face. $44
Next, I have the Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick. This is a revolutionary product that boasts the coverage of a concealer, the fluidity of a liquid, and the weightlessness of a powder in a longwearing waterproof formula. Needless to say, as a medium-full coverage foundation loving gal, I was dying to try this! I picked the shade Vanilla, which is light with a cool undertone. It’s always scary choosing a foundation online, but luckily it was perfect! FYI, It comes in 26 shades, which makes it easy to find a great match.
Wow, they weren’t kidding when they said full coverage! The swatch above is 1 swipe down my arm. Along with being incredibly pigmented, this foundation stick is SO creamy and blends like a dream! Usually a serious full coverage foundation turns me off because they typically look so unnatural. However, this covers everything while still looking soft and effortless which seriously just amazes me. I didn’t even feel the need to use any concealer. To apply, you twist it up then swipe it (lightly) onto a few key face areas (forehead, nose, cheeks, jawline) and blend well. I have been using my Sigma F80, but I’m sure any foundation brush or sponge would work well. Don’t overdo it, a little really goes a long way! $46
Needless to say, I LOVE the foundation. I think its a must try! The primer preforms OK, but I’m not a big fan of the thick, dry texture.
