There’s nothing better than a long lasting manicure, am I right ladies? Thankfully, the folks at OPI feel the same way. They recently released new Infinite Shine PRO STAY Primer & Gloss formulas for their 3-step Infinite Shine line. Their old primer & gloss gave up to 10 days of wear when used as part of the 3-step system. However, the new formula offers one more full day of gel-like wear and shine. To be honest, I’ve never gotten 10 full days out of the old formula. Polish tends to chip very easily on me, especially when I go to work. (I do a lot of cleaning & dishes.)
Typically, with regular polish I get chips within 2 days, if not sooner. With the old primer and gloss formula, my mani was extended about 1 full day (so 3 days max) with no chips. I was curious to see how this new formula would compare. For starters, the Primer (step 1) is slightly thicker and has more of a gel like texture to it. Even when it’s dry it feels slightly tacky. Personally, I feel like this helps to “grab” the polish better, but thats just my opinion.
Next, I applied my color (step 2), and sealed it with the Gloss (step 3). I went about my business, and even went to work the night after. I went 3 full days before I got my first chip and I didn’t get any more chips until day 5, when I decided to take it off. All in all, I was happy with how long it lasted, and was actually starting to get bored of the color. haha!
Also, in addition to the new Infinite Shine Pro Stay formula, OPI has released more Iconic Shades in the Infinite Shine formula. They added 30 more famous colors in January, and I have 6 of them to show you today. If you want to see some other Iconic shades from the Fall release, see my post on that HERE. *In all of my swatches below I used the Primer, 2 coats of color, and a coat of Gloss on top.
Sweet Heart is a pale bubblegum pink.
That’s Hula-rious! is a medium mint green. I love this shade!
OPI Red is a bold raspberry red cream.
COSMO NOT TONIGHT HONEY!
Cosmo Not Tonight Honey! is a pale champagne metallic. I tried to apply this very carefully to minimize brush strokes. You can still see some, but it’s not terrible.
DO YOU LILAC IT?
Do You Lilac It? is a lovely royal lilac.
GOT THE BLUES FOR RED
Got The Blues for Red is a rich maroon red.
To wrap things up, all of the shades that I tried had a nice formula and most of the colors look perfect for spring! I was really happy that I got 5 days of wear from this new system, even though it’s less than the max of 11. Like I said, polish doesn’t last on me so it was a nice surprise. Finally, out of the 6 shades, I think that Do You Lilac It, Thats Hula-rious, and Sweet Heart were my favorite. I’m so ready for spring now…how about you?!
All of the OPI Infinite Shine products retail for $12.50 and you can find them at Ulta, Regis, Sally Beauty, and Professional Salons.
