Along with lipstick, blush has always been a makeup weakness of mine. In addition, I’ve rarely been disappointed by any NYX products and lord knows I have used plenty! So, when I saw the new NYX Sweet Cheeks Blush Palette popping up all over IG, I knew I just had to try it for myself. At $19.99 it is more expensive than most NYX products. However, you are getting 6 decent sized blushes here!
Before I even dug in, I was really happy with the variation of blush shades included. There are 3 shimmer shades, and 5 mattes. The shimmer shades seem a bit more creamy than the matte. The mattes are slightly powdery, but that’s really not that big of a deal. I think that all of the shades are nicely pigmented and most of them blend very easily. Also, these seem to last all day (8 hrs) on me without fading.
Since the shades aren’t named or labeled, I numbered them to make it easier to follow the descriptions. 1-3 are shimmer shades, and 4-8 are matte.
- A light peachy-pink shimmer. Pigmentation was a bit on the light side, but build-able.
- A shimmering warm gold. I don’t think I have any blush shade like this.
- A shimmering dusty mauve.
- A warm, matte coral.
- A warm peachy-pink.
- A bright fuchsia. This one is very pigmented and a little tough to blend.
- A neutral carnation pink.
- A vibrant cool pink.
So, #2 is an interesting shade on me… I think it may look better in the summer when I have more color. Also, as you can see #6 is very bright and pigmented. I even had to soften it with my foundation brush to tone it down. Even though #8 looks very bright in the pan, it goes on surprisingly subtle and natural looking. Out of the 4 that I’ve tried so far, I think #5 is my favorite!
