The Body Shop is one of my all time favorite brands for skin and body care. Their Expert Facial Masks are amazing, so I was extra excited to try their latest in skincare. One thing I love about TBS is that they are all about sustainable, cruelty free & fair-trade beauty. After all, their slogan is “Enrich, not Exploit”. These new products are enhanced with ingredients from their Community Trade Program which helps enrich the communities they are sourced from. Furthermore, by 2020, they plan to double the Community Trade Program from 19 to 40 ingredients which will help even more communities.
Lets start my review with the Drops of Youth™ Youth Liquid Peel (V). This new peel is pretty awesome stuff! It is designed to clean and purify skin by exfoliating and gently peeling off impurities from the skin. It has a very thick serum like texture and a fresh citrus-y scent. To use: Dispense 2 pumps into hands and massage onto a DRY face for up to 20 seconds. When you start massaging you will notice the product starts to form little balls which seems like dead skin being exfoliated. Finally, rinse your face with a warm wet wash cloth or plain water. It feels like an incredibly gentile process, yet I noticed results after the very first time I used it. My skin was super smooth and clean feeling. I prefer to use this when I first get in the shower, because it makes a mess rinsing off at the sink.
Also, I will mention is that if you have a lot of peach fuzz on your face it might be hard to rinse off. I usually shave the peach fuzz from the sides of my face, but I hadn’t done it in a while the first time I used this. It balled up and got stuck in the fine hairs, but I had no issues once I shaved the area again. (Vegan – 4.9oz.)
Next up is the Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Eye Cream-Gel. Phew, thats a mouthful! This cream contains 3 precious seed oils (Black Cumin, Rosehip, and Camellia) along with caffeine and illuminating micro-pearls. It has a cool feeling upon application and melts effortlessly into the skin with a non-sticky finish. I have been using this daily for about a week and a half. During that time, I’ve noticed that my eye area stays much more hydrated and vibrant looking throughout the day. There is shimmer in this, but I don’t really notice it at all once I put makeup on. (.69oz)
Overall, I am really enjoying these new products! The Youth Liquid Peel is something that I would definitely re-purchase once I run out of it. I think it would be perfect for those with sensitive skin who can’t use the typical abrasive exfoliation product.
