Welcome to today’s blog post lovely readers. I am really excited to talk about these products today, because it’s my first time trying anything from Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics! They sent me a assortment of some of their best selling products for me to try out. What did I think of them? Well, you’ll just have to keep reading to find out. But first, I’ll just give a brief history of the brand.
Jesse’s Girl started out in 2005 and has experienced double digit growth since then. They now have a presence in over 3,000 stores in the US. The company also prides itself with offering high quality makeup at an attractive budget. After all, they believe that “a beautiful face shouldn’t cost you an arm an a leg.” (How cute is that line!?) I should also note that ALL of their products are certified cruelty free!
I’m going to be honest. I really liked most of these products, but there were a couple of duds. The majority were very nice, and I would consider searching out other shades in my local Rite Aid store.
Let’s just get my least favorite out of the way, shall we? The Fluid Shadows are designed to be a lightweight, liquid shadow for use all over the lid, or as a liner. They swatched decent enough, but when I applied them all over my lid, I had trouble getting them to look good. They were patchy (especially Purple Haze) and when I tried to smooth them out with my finger, all of the pigment came right off! Then, I tried using Snowflake as a lid liner and it looked ok. Personally, these just aren’t my style when it comes to makeup. I prefer little or very subtle eye shadow looks. $4.99
Next up, we have some lip products. They sent me a Matte Finish Lip Color and a Twist & Shout Lip Balm. I received the Matte Lipstick in the shade Angelic, which is a rusty rose color. It has a very thin/watery consistency, but it spreads very nicely onto the lips. I found it to be comfortable and not drying for a few hours. However, when it started to feel a bit dry, I just added some of the balm on top and it was just like new. The color actually lasted me 8 hours! I was really impressed and definitely want to pick up a few more shades. $3.99
The Lip Balm was also nice. I received the shade Bobby Soxer which shows up clear and has a bit of shimmer in it. I thought the shimmer would be too much, but it’s fairly subtle. It also has a sweet peachy scent that I really like. $2.99
Now we’re back to eyes. I received 2 Liquid Eyeliner shades, in black and white. The black eyeliner has a brush tip, while the white has a felt tip. I found that the brush tip deposited more color and was easier to use. However, I should note that I’m not the most skilled at doing eye makeup, so take that for what its worth! (Also, white liner just isn’t really my thing.) I do want to try their Blue Hawaii shade though! $6.99
Next, I have one of their 5 eyeshadow palettes to talk about. I received the Dream Girl Palette, which is a mix of cool & warm neutrals. There are 3 matte shades, and 6 shimmer shades in this palette. In my opinion, the shimmers had more pigmentation and blended better than the matte colors. However, this palette has some lovely tones and I can see myself using it often. It comes packaged in a sleek plastic case and includes a dual ended applicator. Plus, it’s pretty much a steal at only $3.99!
Finally, we have the Highlight & Contour Kit. This palette contains 4 powder highlight shades, and 4 contour shades. 2 of the highlight shades are shimmery, and I think that those preformed and looked better on my skin. (The matte highlights were slightly powdery.) All of the contour shades are matte and they all have great pigmentation and blend very easily. The 3rd contour shade from the left works best on my skin tone. This is the most expensive item at $12.99, but I think it’s worth it if you are in the market for a palette like this.
Here is my final look using most of the Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics products that I received. I used eyeshadow shades from the Dream Girl palette, the top left highlight shade, the matte lipstick, and the black liquid liner. I honestly can’t believe how great my winged liner came out! Like I said before, I am NOT the best at eye makeup so I am pretty pleased with myself. 😉 I would have to say that my FAVORITE products are the liquid lipstick, the black liner, and the highlight & contour kit!
Have you tried Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics before? If so, what are your favorites from the brand?
