Well hello there beauty friends. I haven’t posted here in almost a month, yikes! Sorry for my absence, but I wasn’t really feeling all that up to photography and writing for the past few weeks. Usually, I don’t get very personal here, but I have pretty much been feeling down and extremely tired/no energy. I don’t know if it’s the weather or what, but I’ve made a doctors appointment to talk about it just in case. Which, if you know me is a big step because I hate going to the doctor. Haha!
Anyway, I wanted to ease back in with a quick post highlighting some of my recent favorite drugstore makeup products. Not all of them are terribly new items, but a few of them are!
Let’s start by talking about the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation. You guys, this has been my bestie for the past month plus since I first bought it! I had previously tried their Pro-Matte foundation, but I found it to be too dry feeling. Pro-Glow, however, is amazing. It has wonderful medium-almost full coverage and it provides a slightly dewy finish. It lasts all day on me, but by the end of the day I can see some skin showing through on my nose and chin area (which are more oily.) The lightest shade just barely works with my pale skin, but I think I can get away with it.
Now for my next favorite, the Maybelline Master Blush Palette. Like the foundation, this is pretty much all I have been using for the past month. I had to force myself to use some of my other blushes so they don’t feel left out, haha! Seriously though, this palette has everything I need: a champagne highlighter, a warm coral blush, a cool pink blush, and a medium mauve shade. They are all very pigmented without being powdery, and they blend effortlessly on the cheeks.
Now onto lip products! The new Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Liners are pretty great, and there are so many shades to choose from. (See my full review here.) I love to use them when ever I want an ultra long lasting lip look, or to create an easy ombre lip. I am also loving the Maybelline Baby Lips Color Balm Crayon, specifically in the shade Strawberry Pop. It’s the perfect splash of color for summer! Also, I am crazy about the NYX Pin Up Pout in the shade Almost Famous. It is a stunning mauve/rose shade that would look great on any skin tone, and during any season.
Next, we move onto the eye area! Maybelline’s Colossal Big Shot Waterproof Mascara is my pick for summer. It gives lush, defined lashes and stays put in the hot sun and by the pool. (Full review here.) Now, the Maybelline Brow Precise has some pretty horrible reviews online, but I don’t think it’s the worst brow product I’ve tired. I tend to only use it when I don’t want to break out my favorite brow color pomade. It’s just a little easier for a quick, darkened brow look. It is a bit soft, but I haven’t had any issues with it breaking. However, I do like the fact that it is very pigmented and comes with a spoolie on the opposite end.
Finally, we have nails! There are SO many nail brands that I love, but for drugstore, I have really been liking the Sally Hansen Color Therapy shades. I have Reflection Pool and Aura’nt You Relaxed? Both are perfect shades for summer tips and toes! Reflection pool is a shimmering teal with purple shift. It’s a bit on the thin side so you will need 3 coats for maximum opacity. Aura’nt You Relaxed? is a fiery, medium coral cream. This one is more opaque, so 2 coats should do. I love this one for my pedicure!
Have you tried anything great from the drugstore lately? I’m always looking to try new things! 🙂
