Let’s be real. Breakouts are no fun. In fact, I think they are one of the worst skin issues to deal with in life. (Relatively speaking.) Like most people, I suffered from acne in my teen years. It went away for the most part, then it came back with a vengeance after my second child. Acne at any age is no fun, but when you’re an adult and have to worry about that AND aging, it can really take a toll on you. (At least it did on me.) Thankfully, since starting birth control again I only get the occasional breakout here and there, but I still need something that will work to cover them up.
Recently, It Cosmetics has added 2 new blemish solutions to their lineup. First, I’ll talk about the Bye Bye Breakout Full Coverage Treatment Concealer. This is a long-wear drying lotion and concealer in one, and it comes in 7 shades. It covers and helps conceal acne -prone skin with tea tree, sulfur, witch hazel, and a gentle AHA/BHA complex. This can be worn alone or under makeup without any creasing or cracking. Above, my swatches are still “wet” but the shades do seem to get a bit darker as they dry. Right now Light matches me best, but in the winter I can guarantee it will be Fair. $28 at Ulta.com
The other product in their new blemish fighting arsenal is the Bye Bye Breakout Powder. This weightless finishing veil minimizes shine and works to improve the look of blemishes. It comes in 3 shades, and it has a talc-free formula that won’t settle into pores or lines. Also, it has the same blemish fighting ingredients that I mentioned above. You can apply this over your concealer, foundation, or wear it alone for a lightly airbrushed look. This powder has an incredibly light and silky feel. I didn’t bother swatching it because the pigmentation is very light. I can wear Translucent or Light/Medium but I’m pretty sure Tan would look too dark on me. $28 at Ulta.com
I’m really happy that It Cosmetics has added some acne solution products because it is a real problem for millions of people. There were times when I didn’t even want to leave the house because of my acne and covering it up became an art form. Out of these 2 new products, I think that the Bye Bye Breakout Concealer will be my most used. I just love the formula and coverage!
