Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week!? (I’m having a hard time with that fact.) However, this time in November is always busy because my youngest daughters birthday is only about a week before. I’m sure it will be fine because we don’t usually do anything too grand. Plus, I think this time it will just be my father and step-mom joining us because all of her kids are away this year. Anyway, I’m sure you’re really here to see my review of the new Tarte Double Duty Beauties Discovery Set, so I’ll get right to it!
This awesome little set is packed with everything you need to get your holidays off to a good start! There are 2 full size items, 2 sample sized items, and it is valued at $79. Overall, I really love this set and I’m glad I bought it, but I did have a little trouble with some of the items. Keep reading to see what I’m talking about…
Tarte Double Duty Beauties
- The Blush & Glow Blush and Highlighter is one of my favorite items from the set. It’s a full size and it is the Rose Gold duo. First off, it has the most delicious chocolate scent, but it fades quickly after application. The blush is a soft, rosy matte, and the highlighter is a shimmering pink champagne. The blush is a bit powdery, so I have to be sure to tap my brush off well before applying. They are both nicely pigmented and blend out easily. $30
- The Sweet Tarte Fragrance is a new product from Tarte. It is a travel size roller ball that contains 4.5ml of product. The scent is a soft creamy vanilla with a hint of musk. Unfortunately, I knocked it off the counter after only a few uses and it shattered. The rollerball on this travel size was kind of stiff and it was a lot of work to get enough fragrance out. However, I liked the scent enough to buy a full size, but since I have used it more I find that the scent fades way too fast for my liking. (I think I may return it.) A full size rollerball is $24.
- The Maneater Voluptuous Mascara is the other travel size item included in the set. It is very black and lightweight, and I find that it coats my lashes evenly from root to tip. My lashes look full and long, yet it also has nice separation so they don’t look clumpy. I love the way this mascara makes my lashes look, but I do get a bit of under-eye smudging with this. A full size mascara is $23.
- Lastly, is the Lip Architect Lipstick & Liner duo in the shade Delightful, which is exclusive to this set. On one end is a liner, and the other end is the lipstick. The shade is a lovely, deep rose that is perfect for fall or any time of year! By itself, the lipstick is creamier and more lightweight. But, when I apply the liner underneath, it has more of a matte appearance and it lasts a bit longer. I was storing this upright with the lipstick side facing down and the 3rd time I went to use it the lipstick had slid out and was stuck in the cap. I got it out, but now I store it with the liner side down and I haven’t had any more issues. Also, I wouldn’t turn either up too much during use, because they seem like they would break easily. $24
So, all in all I really liked this set, but it wasn’t without a few flaws. Even so, I think it’s well worth the money for the 2 full sized products which I love. This would make a great little gift for any makeup lover in your life! In this case, I gifted it to myself! 😀
